I know it’s been a while…..so I’m here today to share these Birds, Butterflies and Flowers I’ve been working on over the last few weeks.
First up this colorful Woodpecker.
For the Woodpeckers first layer I used mauve and than a second layer of black for the body and the wings. The red in the head and stomach area I used a deep scarlet pencil and for the eye a touch of burnt sienna. The tree was easier to sketch out than what I had originally thought.
Now this Bluejay and the tree were my way of doing something different. Almost a complete paisley design. Using the Faber Castell pencils I picked phthalo blue for the body of the bird and burnt sienna for the tree. Lots of repetition here.
Stepping away from Birds here’s 3 Butterflies that I composed.
The orchids were done with middle purple pink and pink madder lake. The stems I colored in with leaf green.
The butterfly was done with several layers of phthalo blue and bluish turquoise.
Here I sketched out a Butterfly with a black fine point sharpie and outlined an iris. For the color in the Butterfly’s wings I used rose and the flesh colored pencil. For the iris I blended in mauve and a deep violet-purple.
And last is this brown Butterfly holding onto the tip of an orchid.
All of these sketches were composed on Strathmore 14 x 17 sketching paper with a medium tooth.
Have a great day!
