Black and White Forest

Been playing around with acrylics for the last 6 weeks or so and I really like how quickly it dries. It’s a major change form the oils I’ve been using for the last 17 years or so.

Using a paper towel and dipping it into titanium white is how I made the background. The pattern that the paper towel left was a repetitious yet neat pattern so I went with it. Once the white acrylic dried I used a #8 round brush to start painting in the trees.

I continued to use the round brush to paint in the rest of the trees and made a few gray and white trees. Later I used a liner brush to paint in the branches.

The funny thing is this painting isn’t on canvas at all. It’s on a large paper pad size 18 x 24. The actual painting is 18 x 15 acrylic on mixed media paper.

Once I frame it I think it will be a keeper.

Cheers to everyone and Happy New Year 2018!
